Victor Boniface continued his strong pre-season form by registering an assist as Bayer Leverkusen came from behind to defeat Kickers Offenbach 3-1 on Saturday.
The Nigerian forward, who scored twice in Leverkusen’s 7-0 win over Baumberg in their opening pre-season outing, once again impressed after coming off the bench as the Bundesliga side recorded a second successive victory.
Leverkusen found themselves behind after just 11 minutes when Keanu Staude gave Offenbach an early lead. However, Christian Kofane restored parity six minutes before the break, ensuring both sides went into half-time level at 1-1.
With an entirely refreshed team introduced for the second half, Leverkusen quickly turned the game around. Boniface made an immediate impact after his introduction, producing some clever footwork before slipping a perfectly weighted pass into the path of Jonas Hofmann, who calmly finished in the 49th minute to put his side 2-1 ahead.

Boniface will be encouraged by his impressive start to pre-season as he looks to reclaim a place in Leverkusen’s starting XI. The 25-year-old spent the first half of the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Werder Bremen before a serious knee injury ruled him out for most of the remainder of the season.
Having fully recovered, the Nigerian was the first player to report for Leverkusen’s pre-season preparations, underlining his determination to impress new head coach Carles Martínez ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
The striker will be aiming to rediscover the form that established him among the Bundesliga’s most feared forwards. Across his first two seasons at Leverkusen, Boniface contributed 32 goals and 10 assists in 61 appearances, playing a key role in the club’s Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and German Super Cup triumphs.
