Nigeria’s Flamingos have continued their preparations ahead of this month’s 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup second round qualifying fixture against Guinea.

Nigeria will face Guinea in the first leg in Conakry on Sunday, 24 May. They will then host the return leg at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Saturday, 30 May.

The winner over two legs will qualify for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco. The tournament runs from October 17 to November 7.

The Flamingos, led by Head Coach Akeem Busari, are currently camped in Ikenne, having moved from Abuja, where they played five friendly matches, recording four wins and one draw.

The Flamingos will be aiming to continue their impressive World Cup qualification record. Nigeria have been to every edition of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup missing only the 2018 edition.

The team have reached the quarterfinals of the tournament four times (2010, 2012, 2014, 2024). Their best ever outing came in 2022, where they achieved third place.

In the previous edition, which was also hosted in Morocco last year, Nigeria were eliminated in the round of 16. They finished as one of the best third-placed teams in the group stage, before losing to Italy 4-0 in the next round.
