On the other hand, Algeria staged a remarkable comeback against Botswana, losing 2-1 in the first leg but winning 4-0 in the second leg to secure their qualification and set up a highly-anticipated encounter against Nigeria.

Nigeria’s Flamingos have consistently participated in the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, missing only the 2018 edition and reaching the quarterfinals in 2010, 2012, and 2014.

After missing out in 2018, the Flamingos bounced back in style, historically claiming the bronze medal in 2022, defeating Germany on penalties to secure their best-ever World Cup finish.

Led by Bankole Olowookere, the team is now focused on securing a spot in the upcoming World Cup and making a deeper run in the tournament, with their sights set on claiming the title for the first time ever.
