Tottenham offer €27m for Gift Orban, Gent want €30m

Tottenham Hotspurs have offered €27 million to Belgian side KAA Gent for Nigerian striker Gift Orban.

The Premier League side are looking for a quick replacement for ex-captain Harry Kane, who joined German giants Bayern Munich on a four-year deal worth £100m.

Gent is, however, looking for a fee of around €30m plus add-ons for the striker they bought from Norwegian side Stabeak last January for just €3.3m. Spurs would be looking to quickly complete the deal for the Nigerian who is also on the radar of Ligue 1 clubs Lille and Lens while Barcelona have also been rumoured to be monitoring the situation closely.

So far this season, Orban has scored five goals in three games played both in the Belgian Jupiler League and the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers.

Last season, the Nigerian found the back of the net 20 times in 23 appearances in all competitions for Gent despite joining in January.

According to reports, the €27 million offer from Spurs have only been made orally but it is expected that a written offer would be made on Monday. Gent are open to talks with interested teams but the London side are currently at the forefront.

Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri in a tweet said, “Talks still ongoing between Tottenham and Gent through intermediaries for Gift Orban. Spurs already offered orally about 27M€ as of now but the Belgian officials want to increase the price to 30M€ + add-ons. As revealed last Monday, a written offer should come next week in order to towards an agreement.”
