Former Nigeria U-20 forward Tom Dele-Bashiru was on target for Watford in their first game of the 2023/24 season in their 4-0 thrashing of Queens Park Rangers at Vicarage Road Stadium on Saturday.
The goal from Dele-Bashiru is the fastest scored so far this season as he found the back of the net just 36 seconds into the game. Imran Louza, Matheus Martins and Vakoun Bayo added first-half goals as the Hornets proved too hot for QPR who failed to get their footing all through the game.
The Nigerian was in action for 66 minutes before making way for Giorgi Chakvetadze.

manager, Valérien Ismaël said he is pleased with every aspect of the win and hopes it will serve as momentum for the side going forward.
“I think it was the perfect start, not only because of the result but also because of the attitude we saw from the players after seven weeks of hard work behind the scenes. Hopefully, the result will help us build some momentum now,” Valérien Ismaë told the club website.
“With our style of play, that’s also something we’ve implemented over the last seven weeks. We played some really strong sides in pre-season and they struggled to deal with our build-up, and that gave our players lots of confidence.
“You never know how things are going to go in the Championship, but I think you saw today that the players believe more and more in our methods.”
