Three Saudi Arabian clubs have registered strong interest in signing Super Eagles captain and PAOK defender William Troost-Ekong this summer, Boldsports reports.
The Nigerian international who was voted the Most Valuable Player of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire and recently returned from a long-term injury has been in superb form for PAOK in preseason and during their UEFA Champions League qualifying round.
Reoost-Ekong’s recent form has once again drawn attention to him and clubs in the oil-rich country are already vying for his signature to help shore up their defences ahead of the 2024/25 league season.
According to BBC sports journalist Oluwashina Okeleji, three clubs in Saudi Arabia are already in talks to get the Nigerian to the Gulf. “Ekong off to Saudi Arabia? Three Saudi clubs have registered their interest in Nigeria captain and #AFCON2023 MVP, William Troost-Ekong.
“The fit-again defender, 30, has been sensational in pre-season with Greek champions PAOK.”
Troost-Ekong who scored the winner in their 3-2 win over Bosnian Borac in the first leg Champions League second-round qualifiers last week has been listed by the club as one of the players to compete tomorrow at the Banja Luka City Stadium for a play in the third round qualifying phase.
