Thomas Frank hails Onyeka on first-ever Brentford goal

Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka marked a special moment on Saturday, scoring his first-ever goal for Brentford in a 2-0 victory over Sheffield United, a performance that the manager Thomas Frank hailed.

The match was a close one, with Sheffield United, already relegated from the Premier League, putting up a strong defense. Brentford eventually took the lead through an own goal by Ollie Arblaster in the first half.

Frank Onyeka’s goal

Frank Onyeka, coming on as a substitute for Mathias Jensen in the 90th minute, wasted no time making his impact. Just three minutes later, he sealed the win for Brentford. A throw-in by Sergio Reguilon found Kevin Schade, who cleverly flicked the ball on. Onyeka, with space created inside the box, fired the ball past Sheffield United’s goalkeeper Ivo Grbic.

This goal wasn’t just Onyeka’s first in the Premier League, it was his first for Brentford in any competition despite playing 74 games for the club prior.

Having failed to win a Premier League game in their last nine games, manager Thomas Frank said he is excited about the win.

“I’m so happy for Frank, he deserves it (his first Brentford goal). He came on and was a part of deciding the result,” Thomas Frank said after the game.
