Inter Milan president Giuseppe Marotta has revealed that negotiations with Atalanta for Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman are entering a decisive stage this week, Bold Sports reports.

The Nigerian forward remains at the centre of transfer discussions between both Serie A clubs, with Atalanta reportedly demanding a €50 million transfer fee. Talks are said to be ongoing, involving representatives of both the club and the player.

Inter have already agreed personal terms with Lookman, the reigning African Footballer of the Year, and are pushing to finalise the move before the new Serie A campaign kicks off.

During a press conference, Marotta emphasised that the club has set a firm deadline to wrap up the transfer. Should a deal not materialise within the given timeframe, Inter will turn their attention elsewhere.

“This week will be crucial for Lookman deal,” he said. “We are in talks for Ademola Lookman, we want him but we also respect Atalanta”.

“In 2-3 days we hope to proceed and be able to get the deal done otherwise we will move on and focus on other players”.

Lookman enjoyed an impressive campaign with Atalanta last season, finding the net 20 times and contributing seven assists in 40 matches across all competitions.

Since arriving at the Bergamo-based club, the 27-year-old has made 118 appearances, scoring 52 goals and supplying 25 assists. He notably netted a hat-trick in the 2024 UEFA Europa League final, guiding Atalanta to their first-ever European title.
