Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman has shared his thoughts on Nigeria’s must-win World Cup qualifier clash against Rwanda, indicating that the team is looking forward to the big task ahead of them.
The Super Eagles’ crucial match against Rwanda’s Amavubi is scheduled for March 22, with Nigeria needing a win to keep their World Cup qualification hopes alive, as anything less would severely dent their chances of reaching the tournament, set to take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The match against Rwanda will also mark Ademola Lookman’s first game for the Super Eagles since being crowned Africa’s best player, with the spotlight shining brightly on the Atalanta winger and other key players as Nigeria aim to achieve a historic first win in Rwanda.

In an exclusive chat with sports journalist Ojora Babatunde, Ademola Lookman revealed he’s feeling focused ahead of the Rwanda clash, rather than pressured, and is eager to tackle the challenge alongside his teammates.
”There’s no pressure, I’m just glad to be back with the squad, back with the guys, we have a big task ahead of us and we are looking forward to it,” the Atalanta star said.
Lookman also shared insights into the team’s preparations, mentioning that they’ve had extensive meetings to discuss tactics, game plans, and defensive and attacking strategies, all of which have been positive and well-received by the players.
In his words, “We’ve had loads of meetings, how the manager wants us to play, our game plan, aspects of how we defend and attack, it’s all positive and we’re all keying into his ideas.”
The winger expressed satisfaction with the team’s training sessions, noting that they’ve been implementing Eric Chelle’s ideas and have had productive meetings and training sessions: “We’ve had our second session today and yesterday’s session went well as well so positive feelings. Before training we had meetings so we were just implementing that in training.”
