Super Eagles seek revenge over Guinea-Bissau

Nigeria senior national football team, the Super Eagles will be seeking immediate revenge over Guinea-Bissau when both countries clash in the second leg of the doubleheader of their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier today.

Mama Balde scored the only goal in the 29th minute after beating the Eagles defenders with a perfect control before slotting the ball between the legs of onrushing Francis Uzoho, a goal which proved to be enough to hand them the maximum three points and go top of Group A with seven points from three games and remain the only unbeaten team in the group.

Despite having the most possession in the game (69%), the Eagles failed to make it count in front of goal as they only had three shots on target despite getting 17 shots overall in the game compared to three shots on target from seven attempts from the Djurus.

However, they’ll be hoping to exert revenge over their West African counterparts later today at the Estádio 24 de Setembro. A win will see the Eagles return to the summit of the Group A table.

The three-time African champions arrived at Bissau via chartered flight on Sunday as they hope to reclaim their top spot but will have to play against a determined Djurus and the 15,000 fans at the stadium.

Nigeria has the firepower to claim all three points with strikers such as Victor Osimhen, Terem Moffi, Paul Onuachu, Samuel Chukwueze and Ademola Lookman who are currently having impressive seasons with their European clubs.
