Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has been appointed as an ambassador of Enugu State, his state of origin, Bold Sports reports.

The Udinese shot stopper was warmly received and officially hosted by the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, on Tuesday. During the meeting, both parties engaged in discussions focused on advancing the state’s economy and sports sector.

Taking to his official Instagram page, Okoye expressed his excitement with meeting the Governor: “A great moment with my state governor. I feel delighted to be welcomed home by the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Dr Peter Mbah.”

“It was indeed a great and memorable moment we shared together for economic and sporting progress of the State and beyond. In high feelings and honour do I commend the Governor for the beautiful things he is doing for our state,” he added.

Okoye confirmed his appointment as an ambassador, stating: “Thank you for your time, hospitality, and for appointing me as an Ambassador of Enugu State. Tomorrow is here.”

As a newly appointed Ambassador, Okoye will hope to leverage his platform and professional experience to contribute to the growth of sports in Enugu and to inspire the younger generation to pursue excellence.
