Assistant coaches Daniel Ogunmodede and Fidelis Ilechukwu, along with Remo Stars goalkeeper Kayode Bankole, have arrived at Kigali, Rwanda, ahead of the Super Eagles’ World Cup qualifying matches.

This comes after Daniel Ogunmodede led his Remo Stars side to a 2-0 victory over Heartland Owerri while Fidelis Ilechukwu also secured victory, with his Rangers International side defeating Kwara United 3-0.

The coaches and goalkeeper’s arrival marks the commencement of preparations as the Super Eagles’ camp officially gets underway today with several Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) officials already on hand to welcome the rest of the team.

With club football on a temporary break, The Super Eagles camp is set to welcome its biggest stars, with captain William Troost-Ekong and in-form strikers Victor Osimhen and Tolu Arokodare expected to be among the early arrivals.

The objective of the Super Eagles remains to revive their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign after a poor start that saw them draw three matches and lose one in their first four games, leaving them four points behind group leaders Rwanda, Benin, and South Africa.

In a bid to turnaround their fortunes, the team will need to secure consecutive victories when they face off against Rwanda on March 21 before hosting Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo on March 25.

Assuming all travel arrangements go smoothly, the Super Eagles camp is expected to be at full strength by Monday. This will mark the first time new coach Eric Chelle will have the opportunity to train with his full squad and begin preparing them for the crucial World Cup qualifiers ahead.
