Nigeria’s Super Eagles B ended their disappointing African Nations Championship (CHAN) campaign on a high note with a 2-0 win over Congo in their final group-stage match at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium on Tuesday, Bold Sports reports.

Anas Yusuf, the Nigeria Premier Football League’s (NPFL) top scorer, opened the scoring in the 56th minute, calmly slotting home to give Eric Chelle’s side the lead.

Congo’s hopes of a comeback were then dented late in the game when Charles Konde received a red card in the second minute of stoppage time. Moments later, Alimi Sikiru sealed the victory with a composed finish to make it 2-0.

The win offered some consolation for the Eagles after a turbulent tournament, which saw them lose 1-0 to Senegal in their opening game before suffering a heavy 4-0 defeat to Sudan — a result that confirmed their early elimination.

In the other Group B fixture, Sudan played out a goalless draw against Senegal to finish as group winners with five points, while Senegal advanced in second place. Despite their victory, Nigeria exit the tournament third on the group with three points.
