Sporting Lagos held Rangers to a scoreless draw at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, extending their unbeaten home streak but sinking deeper into the relegation zone.
Despite no goals, the match was exciting with both teams threatening to score. Sporting Lagos’ Saviour Isaac nearly broke the deadlock with a long-range shot that rattled the woodwork.

The draw wasn’t ideal for Rangers either. They were hoping to extend their lead at the top of the table, but now sit just two points ahead of Enyimba and Remo Stars.
Sporting Lagos’ situation is critical. The draw dropped them to 16th place, in the relegation zone. If Akwa United wins their next match, Sporting Lagos will be officially relegated with only four games remaining in the season.
Rangers coach Fidelis Ilechukwu expressed his disappointment with the outcome. He believed his team had the upper hand and could have secured a win.
“This is Lagos, my familiar ground,” he said. “While I expected a close match, I felt we were the stronger team throughout. It’s frustrating to leave here without the three points.”
