AC Milan manager, Stefano Piloli, has hailed winger Samuel Chukwueze after his cameo debut in their win over Monza to lift the trophy for the first edition of the Trofeo Silvio Berlusconi tournament on penalties.
The encounter had ended 1-1 during regulation time before Milan won on penalties. Christian Pulisic was on the score sheet putting Milan in front in the 29th minute, the lead did not last long as midfielder Andrea Colpani restored parity in the 32nd minute.
Samuel Chukwueze and fellow new signing Noah Okafor were introduced into the game in the 80th minute and despite just being on for a couple of minutes, the 24-year-old showed his quality which earned him accolades from Pioli who extolled his exceptional skills in one-on-one situations.
“With Musah we are complete in midfield, I hope to go ahead with these players. Reijnders is intelligent, and Loftus-Cheek is a player with quality and physicality. Musah is an aggressive player, then there is Pobega and Krunic,” Pioli told Mediaset after the match.
“We are a good unit. We can play in more ways than one, Samuel Chukwueze has arrived who can give us one-on-one on the outside, Pulisic can play as a trequartista, and Okafor can also play as a center forward and second striker.
“I have versatile players. I like the way the new players are fitting in and the spirit of the team. We are working well to arrive at the start of the championship in the best possible way.”
Chukwueze would hope to make his Serie A debut when Milan take on Bologna in their season opener on Monday, August 21 at the San Siro.
