Sadiq Umar continued his fine run of form by netting the winning goal in Valencia’s 1-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao on Sunday, a result that moved the club five points clear of the relegation zone.

The Super Eagles striker has stepped up at a crucial stage of the season, scoring three times in his last four appearances.

His recent displays have played a key role in Valencia’s improved run, with the team suffering just one defeat in their last four matches.

The visitors came into the game against Athletic Bilbao desperate for victory. They had a huge chance to take the lead in the 27th minute after they were awarded a penalty. However, Hugo Duro missed from the spot, keeping the scoreline level.

After a goalless first half, Valencia continued to push to break the deadlock in the second half. Sadiq Umar was introduced in the 70th minute, replacing Hugo Duro.

Despite Bilbao’s attempts to equalise, Valencia defended their one-goal lead excellently, securing the crucial victory away from home.
