Explosive Nigerian striker, Robert ‘Jaguar’ Odu, has expressed his anticipation for a fruitful season and his hopes of clinching the Hong Kong Premier League trophy with Guanzhong Southern District FC, following his recent signing with the club.

Jaguar had a brief stint with Resources Capital ‘Tai Chung’ towards the end of the 2022/23 Hong Kong Premier League season, but unfortunately, he failed to find the back of the net due to their overly defensive style of play.

In their official announcement, Guanzhong Southern District highlighted their belief that Jaguar’s arrival would enhance the team’s attacking prowess and bolster their chances of winning the league. “Guanzhong Southern District is delighted to announce the signing of Robert Odu, a talented forward from Nigeria,” the club stated in an Instagram post.

“With experience playing for Joy Garden and Peak in Hong Kong, the 24-year-old Robert Odu will further augment the team’s speed, and he eagerly looks forward to the upcoming season.”

The former Happy Valley star expressed his excitement about joining a squad where he could showcase the full extent of his explosive talent. He also revealed his objective of aiding the 2022/23 Hong Kong Sapling Cup champions in their pursuit of their maiden league title.

“I am prepared for the upcoming season, and with a complete squad, I firmly believe that playing an offensive style of football will suit me better. I eagerly await the challenge,” remarked Robert Odu. “Our goal for the new season is crystal clear—to secure the trophy—and I will devote myself to achieving that.”

During his time at Happy Valley, Odu impressively scored eight goals and provided two assists in 16 games.
