With the official opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics on Friday evening, the curtain has finally been raised for the Games.
Nigeria will have two athletes in action on July 27 in the men’s table tennis event at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
2019 African Games champion Olajide Omotayo will be the first to compete, facing Iran’s Noshad Alamiyan in the men’s singles Round of 64. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m. Nigerian time.
African number one player Quadri Aruna will play against Eduard Ionescu in the men’s singles Round of 64, 9:15 p.m. Nigerian time.
Aruna, who is in his fourth Olympics, will be hoping to equal or better his Rio 2016 Olympics feat where he became the first African player to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Olympics.
Edem Offiong and Fatimo Bello are the two additional Nigerian players in the table tennis event, competing in the women’s singles.
