Precious Achiuwa came off the bench to score four points and record one assist in 28 minutes, but the New York Knicks were eliminated from the Eastern Conference semifinals after losing 109-130 to the Indiana Pacers.
Achiuwa’s compatriot OG Anunoby who returned to the team after missing 11 days of action due to injury returned to the starting lineup but was only on the court for five minutes before suffering another hamstring injury.
Anunoby scored five points shooting 2/2 from the field and 1/1 from the three-point range. His absence affected the Knicks’ chances of taking on the Pacers in a must-win Game 7 of the second-round playoffs.
Achiuwa and Anunoby’s exit from the playoffs means no Nigerian player or player of Nigerian descent will be playing in both the Eastern and Western Conference finals. Non will be eligible for the NBA championship.
