Paul Onuachu has returned to full training ahead of Trabzonspor’s Turkish Super Lig clash against İstanbul Başakşehir on Sunday, Bold Sports reports.

The Super Eagles striker missed Trabzonspor’s previous league game against Alanyaspor after sustaining a muscle injury. In his absence, Fatih Tekke’s side were held to a 1-1 draw, ending their seven-match winning streak across all competitions.

However, in recently released images by the club, Onuachu was spotted training alongside his teammates, suggesting he could be close to making a return as Trabzonspor aim to get back to winning ways.

Onuachu has been in outstanding form this season, spearheading Trabzonspor’s push for a first league title since 2022. The Nigerian International has scored 22 league goals and added two assists, while registering 24 goals in all competitions.

He currently leads the Super Lig scoring chart, with Trabzonspor sitting third on the table on 64 points from 29 matches. They are two points behind second-placed Fenerbahçe and four points adrift of league leaders Galatasaray.

Sunday’s fixture against Başakşehir is very crucial in the title race, with Trabzonspor needing maximum points to keep pace with their rivals. Any slip-up could see their hopes of challenging for the top spot further weakened.

Başakşehir, currently fifth with 47 points, head into the match unbeaten in their last three league outings.

However, they have struggled historically against Trabzonspor, failing to win any of their previous seven meetings, with their last victory in the fixture coming in 2023.
