Victor Osimhen continued his fine form, scoring twice to lead Galatasaray to a 3-2 victory over Samsunspor in the Trendyol Super League.
The Nigerian striker has now scored in five of his last six matches, contributing six goals and two assists during that run.
Osimhen wasted no time, opening the scoring in the 3rd minute with a brilliant header from Lucas Torreira’s cross. His movement and aerial dominance left the Samsunspor defense scrambling.
Galatasaray controlled the first half, with Osimhen coming close again in the 19th and 37th minutes, but the visitors held firm. The home side went into the break with a 1-0 lead.
Samsunspor equalized early in the second half through Olivier Ntcham’s penalty.
However, Osimhen restored Galatasaray’s lead in the 55th minute, reacting quickest to a rebound and heading the ball into the net.
Osimhen’s energy and sharpness kept Samsunspor on edge, and he remained a constant threat until he was substituted late on. Michy Batshuayi added Galatasaray’s third goal in the 85th minute, ensuring the win despite a late Samsunspor penalty.
With this victory, Galatasaray extended their unbeaten run to 13 matches and retained their spot at the top of the league.
Osimhen’s fine form comes in a fine time as he joins the Super Eagles for the last set of 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic away and Rwanda at home. Nigeria need only a point to book their place in the tournament slated for December 2025 in Morocco.
