Osimhen returns to action after 57 days

Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, says it’s good to be back after returning to competitive football for the first time since November 21.

Osimhen’s last game was against Inter Milan, with the Nigeria striker suffering a facial fracture injury after a collision of heads with Milan Škriniar in the 3-2 loss.

The 23-year-old had surgery on his face and was scheduled to be out of action for about 90 days but returned earlier than expected.

The Nigeria international came on for Dries Mertens in the 71st minute, but failed to get on the score sheet.

Reacting to the game, Osimhen in a tweet revealed that it felt good to be back.

“Feels so good to be back! Solid performance from the boys. Onto the next one, God is the greatest,” he wrote on Instagram.

The striker had been scheduled to feature at the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, but pulled out of the competition after contracting COVID-19 a few days to the start of the tournament.
