Experienced Nigeria international Francisca Ordega has confirmed that she has sustained an injury in the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), ruling her out of the Super Falcons’ final clash against Morocco in Rabat.

The Al Ittihad forward revealed the development in a heartfelt message shared on her official Instagram page.

“God’s plans are best. Injuries come when you least expect. For some days now I have been nursing an injury which kept me out from the tournament,” Ordega wrote.

“Nothing hurts more than sitting on the sideline watching others do what you love to do most. But as a professional soccer player, I take every setback as a blessing,” she added.

Ordega, who started Nigeria’s final group game against Algeria which ended goalless has not featured since then, with supporters speculating over her absence in the knockout rounds. Her confirmation now ends any hope of a return in Saturday’s final against host nation Morocco.

The 31-year-old is one of the most decorated players in the current Super Falcons squad and has already won four WAFCON titles. She remains hopeful of adding a fifth, even though she won’t be on the pitch this time.

“I will be back stronger and better in between getting my 5th WAFCON by his grace,” she concluded.

Nigeria will face Morocco in the final in Rabat’s Olympic Stadium, aiming for a record-extending 10th WAFCON crown. Despite being ruled out of the clash, Ordega’s message reflects her continued support and belief in the team’s mission.
