Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu came off the bench to find the net, while Anthony Nwakaeme registered an assist as Trabzonspor claimed a crucial 2-1 win over Kasimpaşa in their Turkish Super Lig encounter on Friday night, Bold Sports reports.
Onuachu, who just came back from the recently concluded 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), was introduced at the start of the second half and made an immediate impact, scoring five minutes later to hand Trabzonspor a deserved lead.
The visitors responded positively and drew level in the 61st minute when Fousseni Diabaté fired a brilliant effort into the bottom left corner, beating goalkeeper Onana to make it 1-1 and silence the home supporters.
In the 78th minute, experienced attacker Anthony Nwakaeme was brought on and he also made his mark, setting up Oleksandr Zubkov, who produced an audacious chip to restore Trabzonspor’s advantage in the 84th minute.

Kasimpaşa’s troubles deepened late on as Kerem Demirbay was dismissed after picking up two yellow cards in quick succession. With the numerical advantage, Trabzonspor were able to manage the closing stages and hold on for all three points in front of their fans.
The victory sees Fatih Tekke’s men move to within two points of league leaders Galatasaray, who still have a game in hand. Trabzonspor will now turn their attention to their next league fixture against Antalyaspor next Friday.
Onuachu’s strike takes his Super Lig tally for the season to 12 goals from just 16 appearances, leaving him only one goal shy of the league’s leading goalscorer Eldor Shomurodov.
