Nottingham Forest manager Vítor Pereira has confirmed that Ola Aina will miss Sunday’s Premier League clash against Manchester United.
The Nigerian defender remains sidelined with the injury he suffered during Forest’s UEFA Europa League semi-final meeting with Aston Villa. Pereira delivered the update during Thursday’s pre-match press conference.
Aina has battled injuries throughout the campaign. The Super Eagles full-back missed a large part of the season after suffering a hamstring injury during Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa national football team.
The defender has now missed three consecutive matches across all competitions. Sunday’s meeting with Manchester United will make it four.

Pereira also revealed positive news regarding other injured players. Morgan Gibbs-White and Dan Ndoye have returned to training, while Ibrahim Sangaré could resume work with the squad soon.
Speaking about the team’s condition, Pereira said:
“He started today to work with the team with the mask. Let’s see. It’s strange when he uses it but I spoke with him and he said he’s OK with the mask, no problem.
“We’ll see if he’s in condition for the next match.
“Dan Ndoye has started, Sangaré I think tomorrow (Friday 15 May). That’s all.
“Murillo is out, Aina is out. At this moment, I think Dan Ndoye, Morgan and Sangaré will be training tomorrow.
“They are all improving but I think it’s not the time to take risks. We’ll see, it’s with the medical department now.”
Forest will hope to finish the season strongly despite their injury concerns. Aina’s absence remains a major setback because of his defensive consistency and experience this season.
