Josh Okogie led the Phoenix Suns in scoring with 25 points off the bench in their 116-107 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Friday while compatriot, Onyeka Okongwu grabbed a double-double for the Hawks in the win at the State Farm Arena.
Okogie improved his offensive game scoring 25 points and providing three assists while also pulling in a good defensive shift with four rebounds, three steals and one block in 32 minutes from the bench. Centre Deandre Ayton added 23 points, two rebounds and two assists while point guard Chris Paul had 15 points eight assists and five rebounds.
The 24-year-old last featured for the Suns on February 2 in their 132-100 loss to the Hawks at the Footprint Center where he only managed two points, two rebounds and three assists in 19 minutes on the court.
This season, Okogie has averaged 5.4 points per game, 3.0 rebounds per game and 1.2 assists per game for the Suns and could be up for a contract extension with the Franchise.
The Suns were without Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson who were traded to the Brooklyn Nets along with five future draft picks for 10-time All-Star forward Kevin Durant as they hope to increase their chances of championship glory at the end of the season.
Okogie’s compatriot, Onyeka Okongwu recorded a double-double in the Hawks win over the Suns. He totalled 11 points and 11 rebounds from 23 minutes off the bench. The 22-year-old is averaging 9.5 points per game, 7.5 rebounds per game and 1.0 assists per game for the Hawks this season.
