Slavia Prague, home to Nigerian players Igoh Ogbu and David Moses, clinched their 22nd Czech league title with a dominant 5-0 victory over Sigma Olomouc on Saturday, securing the championship with four matches remaining.
Slavia Prague have enjoyed a remarkable season, winning 26 out of 31 matches and suffering just two losses. They have also scored 66 goals, conceded only 11, and won every game at home.
The impressive 5-0 win over Sigma Olomouc confirmed their status as champions with Vadil Kusej giving them an early lead in the 22nd minute before they ran riot in the second half with Tomas Chory scoring a brace within six minutes to extend the scoreline.
Kusej scored two more goals, piling on the misery for the home team and increasing the delight for the visiting fans, who celebrated Slavia Prague’s first league title since the 2020-21 season.
Slavia Prague’s league victory guarantees them automatic qualification for the 2025-26 Champions League, marking their return to the tournament for the first time since the 2019-20 season.
While Igoh Ogbu has been a regular starter for Slavia Prague, it is expected that David Emmanuel who joined the team from fellow Czech side Karvína in December, will see more playing time as they conclude a memorable season.
