Defending champions Remo Stars returned to winning ways in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) with a 2-1 victory over nine-time champions Enyimba at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, thanks to a first-half brace from captain Victor Mbaoma.
Coming off consecutive narrow 1-0 defeats to Niger Tornadoes and southwestern rivals Shooting Stars in Ibadan on Wednesday, Remo-desperate for a morale-boosting result to steady their campaign – hosted Enyimba in Abeokuta.
The hosts got off to a flying start as captain Victor Mbaoma struck in the third minute, stabbing home Chigozie Chilekwu’s low cross.

Enyimba responded in the 32nd minute through Ezekiel Edidiong, who smashed the ball into an empty net after goalkeeper Alladum Kolimba was caught out of position when a defensive corner quickly transitioned into an Enyimba counterattack.
With the final touch of the first half, Mbaoma restored Remo’s lead, heading home from close range off Haruna Hadi’s well-delivered free kick. The goal ultimately proved decisive, as both sides failed to convert multiple chances in a tense second half.
Remo Stars began the match in 13th place, but the vital three points lifted them into the top half of the table (9th), while Enyimba dropped to 12th.
