Remo Stars will be hoping to win their third consecutive game of the 2023 abridged Nigeria Professional Football League when the we’ll one southwest arch rivals Shooting Stars to Ikenne for their matchday 3 encounter.
The Sky Blue Stars are uneaten in their first two games of the season beating El Kanemi Warriors 2-0 in their league opener before pipping Gombe United 1-0 thanks to a late goal from substitute Andy Ikpe.
A win for Remo against the fierce Shooting Stars would see them go level with Group A leaders Bendel Insurance who’ve earned nine points from their first three league games.
Despite being away from home, the Oluyole Warriors would be hoping to claim their first win of the season in Ikenne. The Gbenga Ogunbote-led side have recorded draws in their first two league games – playing a 3-3 draw away at Plateau United in Jo’s while also settling for a goalless draw against Kwara United in Ibadan.
Ogunbote who previously managed Remo Stars would be hoping to earn the maximum points when he returns to his old stomping ground, “Our aim is to get the maximum points in Ikenne, we know they’re one of the toughest teams in the league but we’ve prepared well for the game and will give our all in the match.”
In-form Remo Stars goalkeeper, Kayode Bankole, would be hoping to keep his third clean sheet of the season.
