Enyimba FC extended their unbeaten start to the 2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season to six matches after playing out a 1-1 draw with Ikorodu City in their Gameweek six clash at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Sunday, Bold Sports reports.

The People’s Elephant came into the contest on the back of two straight victories, while Ikorodu City were eager to bounce back from a 4-2 defeat against Niger Tornadoes. Despite the determination that the Oga Boys began the game with, it was Enyimba who struck first, benefitting from an own goal by Joel Ezra in the 12th minute.

The setback did little to shake Ikorodu City, as they quickly restored parity through Joseph Arumala. The electric forward received a brilliant pass from Onwe Kelechi before calmly finishing past Kelvin Ogunga to level the score.

The equaliser spurred the hosts into life, with Arumala and his teammates pushing for the lead. However, Enyimba’s backline stood firm to deny them any real breakthrough. The Aba giants also carved out a few half chances of their own but failed to make them count.

The second half mirrored the first, with both sides probing without finding the decisive touch. Ikorodu City came close on a couple of occasions, while a late penalty shout for handball was waved away by the referee, sparking protests from the home supporters.

The draw means Enyimba climb to second on the NPFL table with 12 points, while Ikorodu City remain ninth, having now drawn four of their opening six games.

Elsewhere in the NPFL, newcomers Barau defeated Kun Khalifat 3-1, Nasarawa United edged Katsina United 2-1 to move top of the standings, Shooting Stars beat Warri Wolves 2-1, while Wikki Tourist and Enugu Rangers settled for a 2-2 draw.
