Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has purchased all 30,000 match tickets for Nigeria’s World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe scheduled to hold at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo on Tuesday, which means fans can now watch the game for free.
Prior to the governor’s tickets purchase, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) had announced a promotional offer, where the first 500 fans to buy match tickets would receive free Nigerian jerseys.
With Governor Umo Eno’s generous move, it remains unclear if the NFF’s free jersey offer still applies. Nevertheless, the Godswill Akpabio Stadium is now poised to be packed with energetic fans, generating a lively atmosphere that will likely motivate the Super Eagles to secure a vital victory over Zimbabwe’s Warriors.

According to a press release signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Sports in Akwa Ibom state, Elder Paul Bassey, “This gesture by His Excellency is to encourage citizens and residents of the state to come out en masse and cheer the Super Eagles to victory.”
As a result, fans have been directed to collect their free match tickets at various designated locations, including all Radio Stations in Uyo, De Venus Bar, Stadium Road, and Uyo Township Stadium.
Fans have also been advised to ensure they bring their match tickets to the stadium, as entry will not be permitted without them. Additionally, supporters are expected to conduct themselves in an orderly manner, follow seating arrangements, and adhere to instructions provided by the organizers.
