French Ligue 1 side, OGC Nice have returned with an improved bid of €18m for in-form Lorient striker, Terem Moffi, after a €15m bid was rejected.
Advanced talks with both clubs according to respected French publication L’Equipe is ongoing despite interest from Premier League sides West Ham United and Southampton as well as LaLiga outfits Villarreal and Real Sociedad.
However, Lorient have valued the striker who they signed for €8m in 2020 to be in the region of €30m. The club had earlier rejected a €15m bid from Southampton for the 23-year-old in the last few days.
The Super Eagles striker has had a blistering start to the 2022/23 league season scoring 11 goals in 17 games, only Paris Saint-Germain forward, Kylian Mbappe, has found the back of the net (13 goals in 16 games) more times than the Nigerian this season. His goal scoring form has also translated to good start for Les Merlus who currently sit sixth in the league, a comfortable spot for a team that battled relegation in the last two seasons.
According to reports, Moffi has made up his mind to continue his development in France instead of securing a move to either the Premier League, LaLiga or the Bundesliga.
Foot Mercato has reported that the Nigerian on New Year’s Eve agreed in principle to join Nice. Billed to expire in the summer of 2024. Moffi’s contract with Lorient runs out in the summer of 2024.
