New signing Ibrahim Olawoyin eyes topflight promotion with Rizespor

Nigeria winger, Ibrahim Olawoyin, says he’s excited to join Turkish Division II side, Çaykur Rizespor, after spending two seasons at Ankara Keçiörengücü where he established himself as one of their key players.

Olawoyin had contributed four goals and seven assists in 17 league games for Ankara Keçiörengücü who currently sit fourth on the league table, six points behind leaders Eyüpspor as they hope to book qualification to the topflight at the end of the season.

Rizespor who got relegated from the topflight in the 2021/22 season would be banking on Olawoyin’s resourcefulness to help them return to the topflight. Rizespor are currently seventh on the log, two points behind fourth placed Ankara Keçiörengücü and eight points adrift of table toppers Eyupspor.

Rizespor announced the arrival of the Nigerian on their website. “Çaykur Rizespor has reached an agreement in principle with Keçiörengücü for the transfer of İbrahim Olavoyin to our club.

“Experienced striker participated in the half-time training camp of our team in Antalya, and the official procedures will be completed with the opening of the transfer season. Welcome” to Olavoyin and wish him success in his new team. It is announced with our respect to our community and the public.”

Reacting to the move, the former Enugu Rangers forward says he’s hoping to help the team get to where they want to be and make the fans happy.

“Excited to start this new challenge with @crizesporas. Hoping to bring smiles to the faces of our dear fans and help the team achieve more than its aspirations.”

Former club Keçiörengücü also confirmed the move as well as thanking the Nigerian for his contributions to the club’s success.

“One of our professional football players, Ibrahim Olawoyin, was transferred to Çaykur Rizespor. We would like to thank Olavoyin for his contributions to our jersey, and wish him success in his new team.”
