The Nigeria Basketball Federation has unveiled its final 12-man D’Tigers roster for the 2025 FIBA Afrobasket, billed for August 12 to 25 in Angola, with Caleb Agada and Ike Nwamu named co-captains.
The squad heading to Angola includes Josh Okogie, Caleb Agada, Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu, Talib Zanna, Stan Okoye, Mike Nuga, and Devine Eke. Completing the lineup are Christian Mekowulu, Ike Nwamu, Martins Igbanu, Ugo Andrew Simon, and Emmanuel Omogbo.
The four players dropped from training camp are Peter Olisemeka, Kareem Joseph, Fola Fayemi, and Mohammed Abdulsalam. A total of 16 players were in camp.
Nigeria is aiming for a second Afrobasket crown, a decade after their maiden triumph in Tunisia, and will have to navigate a tricky Group B featuring defending champions Tunisia, Madagascar, and Cameroon.

D’Tigers open their campaign against Madagascar on August 13, face Tunisia on August 15, and wrap up the group stage against Cameroon on August 17. The top team in the group gets an automatic ticket to the quarterfinals, while the second and third placed teams go through the quarterfinals playoffs.
Notably absent from the roster are key stars such as Gabe Vincent, Precious Achiuwa, Jordan Nwora, Chima Moneke, and others — omissions that have left Nigerian basketball fans with mixed emotions and tempered expectations for another title run.
In preparation, the team defeated Guinea 78–73 in their first scrimmage earlier this week before falling 68–65 in their second warm-up game on Friday.
