Super Eagles forward Nathan Tella scored a brace which propelled Bayer Leverkusen to a 2-0 win over Darmstadt as they continued their unbeaten run in the German Bundesliga on Saturday.
Tela opened the scoring in the 33rd minute with a header from Alejandro Grimaldo’s cross.
He made it 2-0 with his second of the game in the 52nd minute putting the game beyond the host with a shot fired to the roof of the net after a Florian Wirtz through pass.
The win sees Xabi Alonso’s men continue their dominance in the league as they hope to win their first-ever Bundesliga trophy.
The table toppers are on a 29-game unbeaten run.
The goals takes Tella’s tally to four in 11 appearances in the league since joining in the summer. The game is Tella’s first time of completing 90 minutes and his second start.
He has been a fringe player but would be hoping get more playing time after today’s exceptional performance.
Meanwhile Granit Xhaka hailed Tella’s performance in the game
He said, “We played a confident game right from the start. We won a lot of tackles today, didn’t allow much and in the end I think we deserved to win.
I’m happy for Nathan he’s doing a great job and he deserves this moment.”
