Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare has emerged as a transfer target for Serie A champions Napoli, who are searching for attacking reinforcements following Romelu Lukaku’s injury setback, Bold Sports reports.

Napoli have returned to the market after their top scorer last season, Lukaku was ruled out with a muscle problem that is expected to sideline the Belgian for at least three months.

Consequently, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that the Italian club opened talks with Arokodare’s representatives on Tuesday to explore personal terms, with less than two weeks remaining in the summer transfer window.

Genk value the 24-year-old at around €20–25 million after his prolific campaign last season in Belgium, where he finished as the highest goal scorer and clinched the Ebony Shoe award, presented to the league’s best African player.

Despite his form, Arokodare has yet to start a game for Genk this season, featuring only as a substitute against Club Brugge, Royal Antwerp, Standard Liège — where he opened his scoring account for the campaign — and OH Leuven. His limited game time has fueled speculation that the Belgian side may be bracing for an incoming offer.

Arokodare is among several names under consideration at Napoli, with Manchester United’s Rasmus Højlund and Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson also on their shortlist.
