Victor Osinhen believes that Napoli has all it takes to win the Scudetto this season but they must keep their heads down and listen to instructions from the manager, Luciano Spalletti.
The Partenopei earned a statement victory over Juventus on Friday thrashing the Old Lady 5-1 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium with the Nigeria international scoring a brace. Both goals takes his tally of the season to 12 goals from 14 league appearances.
The loss is the biggest for Juventus in almost 30 years and Osimhen’s opener in the 14th minute of the encounter put an end to the visitors eight-game break without conceding a goal.
The win sees Napoli sit 10 points clear of second placed AC Milan who have a game in hand. Napoli lost their first game of the season last week Wednesday against Inter Milan but has since returned with two straight wins scoring seven goals and conceding once.
There has been talks that Napoli could end their 33 year wait for a domestic league title but although Osimhen believes that the road to making that dream a reality is still long, they have a good chance if they keep playing their game and listen to the manager.
“The road is too long, we must continue carrying out the coach’s instructions and I think at the end of the season we have a good chance,” Osimhen told DAZN after the match.
Reacting to the win and his brace, the former Lille striker says he’s happy to contribute to the team’s success against the Old Lady.
“Congratulations to the team, big respect to Juventus for the fight, we needed this more. I am happy with the result and happy to contribute to the team with two goals and an assist. We want to build on this momentum.
“I always say we have a great squad with quality players and of course we cannot shy away from the quality players Juventus possess. It was a good fight, I am glad we came out on top and we must continue like this.”
