Moses Simon was on target for Nantes on his return from injury but it was not enough to save them from losing 3-2 to in-form Lorient in a French Ligue 1 encounter on Sunday.
Nantes are having a rough start to the season winning just one of their first seven league games losing three and recording three draws while sitting 15th on the league table compared to Lorient who are currently flying with five wins from seven games.
Nantes had taken the lead through Ignatius Kpene Ganago in the 13th minute, however, Lorient fired back with three goals in the 19th minute through Dango Ouattara, Yoann Cathline in the 60th minute and Ibrahima Kone in the 74th minute. Moses made it 3-2 in the 85th minute but it was not enough to earn them any point.
The goal was Simon’s third of the season in five games. It was Simon’s first game since returning from the injury that saw him miss two league games against Strasbourg and Paris Saint-Germain.
Simon was on for the entire duration of the game while his compatriot’s Term Moffi and Innocent Bonke were on for 73 and 57 minutes respectively.
However, Nantes head coach Antoine 𝗞𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗲 hopes to rectify the situation as soon as possible, “We are only at the start of the championship. We will obviously have to rectify the situation. We did not play the game we expected. We were not solid today.”
