SS Lazio has confirmed the signing of Super Eagles midfielder, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, on a season-long loan deal from Turkish Super Lig side Hatayspor with an obligation to buy permanently if he impresses.
The club on Saturday announced the signing of the former Manchester City academy player on their official website and social media platforms. The Nigeria international passed his medical in flying colours and has signed the dotted lines, which will see him represent the Biancazzurri in the 2024/25 season.
“SS Lazio announces that it has acquired on a temporary basis with an obligation to buy the rights to the sporting performances of the footballer Oluwafisayo Faruq Dele-Bashiru from Atakaş Hatayspor FK.”
Dele-Bashiru had an impressive campaign in his maiden season in the Turkish Super Lig with Hatayspor, scoring nine goals and providing six assists in 39 games across all competitions season.
The 23-year-old recently made his first competitive appearance for the Nigerian national team against South Africa and found the back of the net in the encounter before being substitute off due to injury. He missed the 2-1 loss to Benin Republic.
Lazio had been in hot pursuit of the midfielder, who had also been monitored by Turkish side Trabzonspor. He had been an early summer target for the Biancazzurri.
