Kano Pillars have officially confirmed the signing of Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa and defender Shehu Abdullahi for the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The club revealed in a statement shared via their social media, that an agreement in principle has been reached with both players.
“We can confirm that an agreement in principle has been reached with Super Eagles players, captain, Ahmed Musa MON and Shehu Abdullahi to join up with us for the 2024/25 football season,” the club announced.
Both Musa and Abdullahi have already been included in the squad for Pillars’ matchday 5 clash against Sunshine Stars on Sunday, generating excitement among fans eagerly awaiting their return to the NPFL.
Bold Sports had earlier reported that both players were earlier spotted training with Kano Pillars, hinting at their potential signing before the official confirmation.
The club had shared pictures and videos from the session, giving fans a glimpse of the Super Eagles stars in action.
“Ahmed Musa, Shehu Abdullahi, Nazir Laja, and the rest of the squad trained ahead of NPFL 2024/25 Matchday 5 clash against Sunshine Stars this weekend,” the club posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Musa, who had a brief stint with Kano Pillars in 2021, featured in eight league games before moving to Europe. Abdullahi, who previously played for Pillars from 2012 to 2014.
Musa had hinted of a possible return to the NPFL when he posted a picture of the logo of the 20 NPFL clubs, asking his fans to vote for the NPFL team they’d like him to join, generating significant buzz among Nigerian football enthusiasts.
Their return to Kano Pillars, a team they both represented earlier in their careers, brings a wealth of experience that could boost the club’s performance this season.
