Eight-time Nigeria Professional Football League champions, Enyimba, have completed the signing of central-midfielder, Ini Edem, to strengthen the team ahead of the 2023 abridged league season.
Edem joined the People’s Elephants as a free agent after parting ways with Nasarawa United at the end of the 2021/22 league season. Edem joined Nasarawa United in 2020 from A&A Sports Club. In his first season with the Solid Miners, he played a huge part in helping them reach the final of the 2021 Aiteo Cup where they lost to second division side Bayelsa United.
In his second season with the club, the central midfielder who can also play as a left back featured in 34 out of 38 games for the Lafia-based club scoring his only goal for the club on August 3, against Enugu Rangers in Lafia.
Reacting to his move to the two-time CAF Champions League winners, Edem says he can’t wait to get started, “I’m delighted to announce a new chapter with Enyimba International. It’s the biggest club in Nigeria and the club with the most titles,” Edem tweeted.
“I’m really happy and I can’t wait to get going with the Elephants. I felt special affection from everyone since I arrived, it’s a new and big challenge,” he added.
Edem could be available to face his former side in Lafia with Enyimba billed to visit the Solid Winners in their season opener on Saturday.
