Nigeria Premier Football League defending champions Enugu Rangers secured a 1-0 victory over newcomers Ikorodu City at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on Wednesday.
The loss saw Ikorodu City fail to win their first home game of the season while the win marked Rangers’ first of the campaign, following a goalless draw against El Kanemi Warriors in their season opener. Ikorodu City, on the other hand, remains winless after three matches.

A goal from Chinemerem Ugwueze in the 25th minute proved to be the decisive factor in the match, condemning Ikorodu City to their first home defeat of the season.
Fresh from crashing out of the CAF Champions League, Rangers were eager to get their domestic campaign back on the right track. The victory puts them in a strong position to challenge early-season favorites Remo Stars, Enyimba, and Rivers United.
Remo Stars, in particular, have been dominant, winning all three of their league matches without conceding a goal. Enyimba has also won both of their matches so far.
