Ademola Lookman finished 14th in the 2024 Ballon d’Or rankings with 82 points, earning votes from 22 countries.
The voting system featured journalists from the top 100 nations in FIFA’s latest rankings, each selecting 10 players and awarding them 15, 12, 10, 8, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 point, respectively.
Despite leading Atalanta to Europa League glory, including a hat-trick in their 3-0 final win over Bayer Leverkusen, Lookman failed to secure a vote from Italy, where he plays, as Sky Sports’ Paolo Condo left him out of his selection.
However, Lookman garnered support from other European countries and several African nations.
Nigerian journalist Sam Audu unsurprisingly placed him first, while Ivory Coast ranked him fifth and Cameroon seventh. Mali and Morocco gave him a ninth-place vote, and Ghana ranked him eighth. Burkina Faso, Zambia, Senegal, Uganda, and South Africa all placed him 10th. Gabon and Equatorial Guinea listed him seventh.
In Europe, Greece gave Lookman his highest European ranking at second. North Macedonia and Ireland ranked him eighth, while Portugal placed him seventh. He was also voted ninth by Finland and 10th by Ukraine.
Beyond Africa and Europe, Lookman earned a 10th-place vote from Trinidad and Tobago and a seventh-place ranking from the UAE and Jordan.
The Ballon d’Or was won by Manchester City’s Rodri, who led Spain to victory at the European Championships, collecting 1,485 points. Vinícius Júnior and Jude Bellingham completed the top three.
