Highly-rated Nigerian striker, Gift Orban scored his third goal for Hoffenheim since joining the German side in January, securing a 3-1 win over Werder Bremen on Sunday.
The game was important as both teams were desperate for a win, having only secured one victory in their previous five games. Werder Bremen had lost twice in their last five matches, while Hoffenheim had suffered three defeats, making the win crucial for their survival.
Werder Bremen took an early lead, scoring within 10 minutes through Stanley N’soki’s own goal. However, Hoffenheim responded strongly, turning the game around before halftime with goals from Anton Stach and Tom Bischof.
In the second half, Werder Bremen made three substitutions in an attempt to stage a comeback. However, Gift Orban sealed the win for Hoffenheim with a clinical header just after the hour mark.

Orban’s evening ended prematurely as he was substituted for Erencan Yardimci in the 76th minute due to a knock. Hoffenheim will be hoping the injury is not serious, given Orban’s impressive form with three goals in his last four games.
The victory lifted Hoffenheim eight points clear of the relegation zone, while Werder Bremen remained on 30 points in 22 games, nine points ahead of Hoffenheim.
Hoffenheim’s next challenge is a home game against Stuttgart, where they aim to secure another win. Meanwhile, Werder Bremen will seek to bounce back when they face Freiburg away from home.
