Gabe Vincent questionable for Game 7

Gabe Vincent questionable for Game 7

Miami Heat point guard Gabe Vincent’s availability for Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals matchup against the Boston Celtics on Monday night is in question due to an ankle injury.

The Heat have faced significant setbacks in their backcourt, with Victor Oladipo being out for an extended period and Tyler Herro sustaining a broken hand injury during the playoffs’ first round against the Milwaukee Bucks. Herro’s unfortunate incident occurred after just 19 minutes of gameplay.

Vincent, who has played a vital role as the starting point guard ahead of veteran Kyle Lowry, sprained his ankle during the fourth round of their loss to the Celtics at the Kaseya Arena in Game 4. While he accompanied the team for Game 5 at TD Garden, he was not listed as an active player. However, Vincent made his return for Game 6 and contributed 15 points, albeit in a narrow loss to the Celtics.

Fans were hopeful that Vincent would recover in time for Game 7. Unfortunately, the news of his availability being downgraded to questionable will undoubtedly dampen the spirits of Heat supporters, who are eager to secure victory after failing to do so in their last three encounters.

The Heat had initially taken a commanding 3-0 lead in the Eastern Conference finals against the Celtics. However, they were unable to close out the series in Game 4 in Miami, allowing the Celtics to mount a comeback and tie the series at 3-3. The winner of this pivotal Game 7 will advance to the NBA Finals to face the well-rested Denver Nuggets, who swept the LeBron James-led LA Lakers 4-0.

If the Heat emerge victorious, it would further solidify the notion that no team in 149 previous attempts has managed to overcome a 3-0 deficit in the playoffs and win the series. On the other hand, a Celtics win would mark the end of this longstanding and unwanted record.
