Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have returned back to the Federal Capital, Abuja as they intensify preparations for the 24th Africa U20 Cup of Nations starting later this month in Egypt.

The team returned to Abuja after a three-week training camp in Katsina, where they sought to acclimate to the weather conditions, which was found to be similar to that in Ivory Coast, the original host country of the tournament.

However, in a surprise move, Ivory Coast withdrew as the host nation at the last hour, prompting Egypt, the previous host, to step in as the new hosts of the U20 Cup of Nations.

The team will train at the FIFA Goal Project field before heading to Egypt in a week’s time. For their Abuja training camp, Head Coach Aliyu Zubairu has called up 35 players, consisting of three goalkeepers, eight defenders, 10 midfielders, and 14 forwards.
