Favour Ofili will not compete in the 100m event at the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics despite the intervention of Minister of Sports John Enoh.
The 100m start list, reviewed by Bold Sports, shows that only Rosemary Chukwuma and Tima Godbless are entered for the competition. Chukwuma is in heat 5, while Godbless will compete in heat 7. Both races are scheduled for this morning.
On Wednesday evening, Ofili raised concerns that she was excluded from the 100m event by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), despite having qualified. The AFN denied the exclusion, stating they had registered her for the event.
In response, the sports minister ordered an investigation and directed both the AFN and the Nigeria Olympic Committee to ensure Ofili’s participation in all events she qualified for.
Ofili will now focus on the 200m and 4x100m relay.
