Enekwechi becomes Nigeria’s first finalist at Paris 2024 Olympics

Chukwuebuka Enekwechi on Friday clinched his ticket to the final of the men’s shot put event at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

He thus became the first Nigerian to make it to the final of any event at the ongoing games.

The 31-year-old threw a distance of 21.13m to finish fifth in Group B of the qualification and ninth overall, to make it to the final.

The qualifying throw was Enekwechi’s first, failing to throw further in his second throw at 21.00m, while his third throw was a foul.

Enekwechi will be back in action for the final 6:35pm Nigerian time on Saturday for a chance at a podium finish.
