Nigeria’s D’Tigress will face Mozambique in the quarter-final of the ongoing 2023 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket in Kigali, Rwanda on Wednesday after their victory over Ivory Coast in the qualifying game at the BK Arena on Tuesday.
Mozambique overpowered Ivory Coast 70-48 to book a date with Nigeria who are defending champions of the competition and seeking to win a fourth consecutive title.
When both sides meet, D’Tigress would have to be wary of the firepower of Mozambique’s power forward Leia Dongue who scored 18 points and 13 rebounds as well as center Tamara Seda who alongside Dongue recorded a double-double contributing 10 points and 11 rebounds to the win.

The winner of the quarter-final will face either hosts Rwanda or Uganda and DR Congo in the semi-finals.
D’Tigress on paper are favourites to qualify for the Demi-finals after their impressive performance so far in the competition. They defeated DR Congo and Egypt by a wide margin in the group phase but would have to be wary of the Mozambicans who have also won two games.
