D’Tigers head coach, Abdulrahman Mohammed, is confident that his team has what it takes to overcome Rwanda in their second game of the ongoing 2025 Afrobasket qualifying window.

After struggling in the second qualifying window in Tunisia—where they went 0-3 in February 2024—D’Tigers were on the brink of missing out on the competition for the first time in 32 years. However, they revived their chances with a crucial opening-day 75-70 victory over hosts Libya in the final qualifying window in Tripoli.

Now, the D’Tigers face a formidable challenge against Uganda, who stunned Group B leaders Cape Verde with a narrow 63-60 win in their opener on Friday. A victory for Uganda would likely secure their spot in the Afrobasket tournament, making the clash even more intense.

With both teams riding high on confidence, Mohammed has set his sights on securing a second consecutive win for D’Tigers.

“We are worried about playing Rwanda so, it’s going to be one game at a time. The goal is for us to come out and win against Uganda,” the D’Tigers coach said looking ahead to the game.

“They’re a great team, we have a lot of respect for them, we’ve done our homework and hopefully, we play like we did against Libya and come out with the win.”

The last time both teams met back in February 2024, Uganda overcame Nigeria 72-62, a result D’Tigers will be looking to avoid this time around.
